ROLES & PLOT
Louis Ironson — A word processor for the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Louis struggles with loyalty, and is quick to give up and run from his problems. His relationship with Prior is something he thought he would never give up, but he finds himself at a crossroads when his fears overshadow his love.
Joe Pitt — The Chief Clerk for Justice Theodore Wilson of the Federal Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. He loves his wife, but he is unsure of why. Born and raised a Mormon, Joe has always known that homosexuality was not a truth he could live, even if he knew deep down that it was how he truly felt.
Harper Pitt — Joe’s wife. An agoraphobic with a mild valium addiction. She struggles with the concept of reality and falls easily to the beckoning of fantasy and dream worlds. She also struggles with truth, and comes up with silly stories to replace what is actually happening around her.
Roy Cohn — A successful New York lawyer and unofficial power broker. Avoidant and angry, Roy is disliked by many, but finds a soft spot in his stone heart for Joe Pitt. Roy is in denial about his own homosexuality.
Belize — A registered nurse and former drag queen whose name was originally Norman Arriaga; Belize is a drag name that stuck. He is a past lover of Prior.
Please prepare monologue and a song, one of which is to be dramatic and the other comedic. Do not fret about being a great singer, we are primarily looking for confidence, stage presence, and the ability to improvise! Please fully memorize the monologue, and be prepared to cold-read any one or few sides that we give you. You do not have to memorize these sides, but they will be made available to you in advance for your perusal. We expect you to bring your best self to the auditions, and be ready to work with any directions we might give you!
