Sock ‘n’ Buskin is now accepting applications for an Assistant Director to help co-direct our Fall Production of Advance Man. This is your chance to work side by side with our selected director for the production, Max Sandler, while serving as a leader of a vibrant community of artists and friends. No prior directing experience experience is required for this position.

Find out what happens when Science Fiction mystery meets small-town family aesthetic in Sock n Buskin’s production of Advance Man. This tale follows in the life of retired astronaut, Bill Cooke, who lives in suburban Florida with his unusual family composed of his wife and kids, and ex-crewmates from his astronomic missions. As the external world starts to close in on this peculiar family, their trust and limits get tested as they try to solve the mystery of the greatest dying alien race mission from Mars they’ve ever seen. See how family close enough to comfort suddenly turn into ill-fated trysts, private investigative work, and the fractured consciousness of each character, as they discovers how the stakes are the world are in their hands, and the power of extraterrestrial life are beyond their wildest imagination.
How to Apply for Assistant Director Position
– Duties may include but are not limited to: assisting with running rehearsals and providing feedback for actors when necessary, working with the stage managers to ensure that scheduling, props, costumes and set building coordination runs smoothly and overall helping to develop and ensure that the directors creative vision is brought to the stage
– Must be available in Ottawa as the show will be in person (if COVID restrictions allow) however auditions/callbacks and rehearsals may start virtually
