ValYa is a performer, writer and director who has been obsessed with all things theatre since she was a young buffoon herself. A graduate of George Brown’s Performing Arts program, they cannot wait to step into the Sock ‘n’ Buskin community as director of Romeo and Juliet! While ValYa loves all aspects of theatre, both backstage and onstage, she has always had a deep passion for clown, mask, and theatre that explores those funky aspects of humanity that are just a lil’ uncomfy. Throughout the years, they’ve taken part of shows at many different theatres, most recently with Lakeside Players’ Sleeping Beauty, where they shared the part of chorus director and choreographer with their mother, Diane (Love ya, mama!). She also works at Canada’s Wonderland as a performer. Outside of the arts, ValYa loves video games, playing soccer, obsessing over animals, and rewatching their comfort shows. She also loves spending time with her adorable nephews and attempting to achieve “Cool Aunt Status”. She thinks she’ll get there when said nephews get older and can understand her humour.
