Play Synopsis
The Wolves is a sharp and witty exploration of adolescence, taking the audience into the world of a varsity girls soccer team. In between games and warmups, the team navigates discussions of periods and interpersonal drama alongside serious conversations about the world they are set to inherit. As tension begins to rise, and cracks form in the surface of team morale, all seems lost, especially with the unexpected tragedy of losing a team member. Nevertheless, the Wolves show what it means to really be a team, and to come together in the face of grief and loss to play their final game.
A Note on Casting
All characters are intended to be portrayed as Female/Female-aligned as per the script casting is open to gender diverse individuals, but note that specific characters must be depicted as AFAB or cis women to align with plot and dialogue. Discussions with gender diverse cast will be held later on about their individual portrayal of their character’s gender. Some characters may have gender-diverse casting, others must be portrayed as AFAB or cis women. Meet The Production Team
Julia Carroll (she/he/they) - Director
Julia is a fourth-year Carleton student studying English and Greek and Roman Studies. Once the shyest kid in the classroom, her first ever role as Antigone in Antigone Now in high school lit a spark that continues to burn. When they decided acting simply wasn’t enough, Julia turned their attention to directing in cégep, becoming a co-director for Twelfth Night (in which she also portrayed Sebastian) and The Welkin with the Bacchus Players. After joining Sock ‘n’ Buskin in his first year at Carleton, portraying Parsons in 1984, Julia has served as the inaugural Archives and Alumni Coordinator, Assistant Director for She Kills Monsters, and most recently as this season’s Internal Coordinator. The Wolves brings together everything Julia loves: snappy dialogue, character dynamics you can sink your teeth into, and, of course, some tears. When not giving notes or commuting across the river twice a day, you can usually find them working on the archives, reading for class, or playing with their (many) cats. She hopes that you will join her, Erin, Emma, and the Zoes on the ride of a lifetime that is The Wolves!
Erin “EJ” Chappel (they/them) - Assistant Director
Theatre has been a defining part of Erin’s life since they first stepped into the spotlight in their hometown of Mississauga at eight years old. Their journey has spanned many facets of performance, production, and education — instilling them with a passion for crafting honest, emotionally resonant stories that reflect that raw and imperfect nature of the human experience.
Since moving to Ottawa in 2021, Erin has taken on a variety of roles with Sock ‘n’ Buskin Theatre Co., making their debut as Ronnie Cooke in the 2021 production of Advance Man, directing the company’s 82nd season opener, She Kills Monsters, and most recently appearing as Meg March in Little Women.
Erin’s career in public relations also began at SnB, where they served as the company’s first Outreach Coordinator from 2022–2024.
Outside of theatre and work, Erin enjoys becoming overinvested in Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, doing absolutely nothing with their partner and cat, and serving as a founding member of the Youth Advisory Council for the Lighthouse for Grieving Children and Families.
Emma Duplessis (she/her) - Stage Manager
Emma is a fourth-year University of Ottawa Student pursuing a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Biology and a Minor in English. She started stage managing in 2023 and hasn’t looked back since! Previous stage management credits include Little Women (UOTC, 2023), The Addams Family Musical (LBMT, 2024), and 9 to 5: The Musical (CMTS, 2026). When not studying and doing theatre, Emma can be found at the dance studio, hanging out with friends, or doing arts and crafts.
Zoe-Elizabeth Cook (they/them) - Assistant Stage Manager
Zoe is a third year History student who has loved theatre since they were 9 years old. They are thrilled to be on the Production Team for The Wolves! This is their fifth time working on a SnB show, having been a prop designer and stagehand for 1984, an usher and a set painter for The Picture of Dorian Grey and a prop designer and stagehand for She Kills Monsters and Little Women. Zoe is so glad to be a part of this amazing production team and looks forward to working on this great show!
Zoe Pruys (she/her) - Assistant Stage Manager
Zoe is in her 3rd year at Carleton as an Applied Physics student, and this is also her third year involved with Sock ‘n’ Buskin. She has previously volunteered as a costume designer, costume assistant, and stagehand in select SnB shows (The Picture of Dorian Gray, She Kills Monsters, and Little Women), and she is very excited for her first time in a production team as an assistant stage manager for The Wolves! When she is not busy at rehearsals or studying, she can be found reading, playing board games, or sewing, whether that be for a show or not. She looks forward to spending both The Wolves and the rest of the season with the amazing group of people here at SnB, and is excited to see some new faces, too!
